Photos: Forty Years of Cycling the Alps

Jobst Brandt first rode the Alpine passes in 1959. At that time most of the roads were unpaved. Since that first trip he has returned to the Alps more than 20 times, documenting his rides with photographs that have inspired many others to do their own rides.
PALTOBICYCLES: Forty Years of Cycling the Alps- I am a complete sucker for vintage riding shots so there will be more of these posts coming very soon. This photo series is deceptively well shot and very difficult to describe without the use of clichés like ‘inspiring’ and ‘epic’. Just click click.
The Big Picture – Singapore F1
THE BIG PICTURE: The Singapore Grand Prix: Its over. The Singapore Grand Prix was amazing. Surreal to chill in front of Singapore’s City Hall and watch formula 1 cars race past. The track street was super bumpy and incredibly tight. Teams that couldn’t adapt were sent flying, as demonstrated by Force India above. I also saw more DSLRs than I ever have in my life, and shot Canon for the first time (all the D3s and D700s were rented out for race day, although I managed to rent a d700 for the practice session). But more on that later, still editing photos from the race =]
If you haven’t already seen it, check out this animation posted here a few weeks ago. Definitely worth watching.
Orbea, Giordana, Pinarello – Bike Porn

ORBEA | GIORDANA | ‘88 PINARELLO: Super shiny bike pr0n.
Sorry for the slow down in posts. Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix is on this weekend and I am a chaotic blur of shooting and editing.
Ferrari V4 Motorcycle Concept

Israeli industrial designer Amir Glinik has come up with an incredible Ferrari motorcycle concept using a modified engine from the Ferrari Enzo supercar. Using drive-by-wire technology, the V4 superbike features hand controls adapted from an F-16 fighter jet and buttons based on those found on the steering wheel of Ferrari’s Formula 1 racecars. Other controls for the sound system and trip computer are located on an all weather touchscreen.

Making Sense of Things
BBC Japan offers solution to financial crisis: Sometimes, all it takes is a bit of thoughtful design to put everything into perspective.
John Chiara- Camera Upsized
YOUTUBE John Chiara: The next time you complain about the bulkiness of your DSLR, think of Chiara and his camera that is the size of a truck. I love that he has to yank the box back and forth to focus.
