Vicinage – the eye and travels of SheOne

VICINAGE
In the summer of 2007, I photographed british graf legend SheOne when he came to Vancouver for Addict Clothing (those photos here). It was an honour to document his trip. He lives up to his name and the surrounding mystique – even a casual conversation over lunch proved to be incredibly inspirational and his advice has stuck with me through this time. Keen to see what he’s got going on, I’ve followed his various blogs ever since.
His most current is Vicinage – an image-only photojournal of black and white photos taken with a Leica D-Lux and an Olympus MJU-1. It’s a peek into the mind of a genius, and despite his not being a ‘photographer,’ SheOne’s unique eye and sharp humour prove Vicinage to surely be one of the most interesting photojournals on the net.
Check out a selection of my favourite images from Vicinage below.
Nike’s Debacle – if at first you don’t succeed, do the exact opposite

Nike SB – Debacle
After their first attempt at a skate video flopped harder than a summer sandle, Nike went back to the drawing board and bred new offspring – a rebellious second child that kicks the shit out of its elder brother.
Debacle features great skating from the hungry AM team, mockingly short ’scenery’ clips, and so little pretentious epicness it’s hard to image it came from the same family as Nothing but the Truth.
Debacle is undeniably solid and definitely worth watching. And to top it all off, the whole video is free for download. in HD.
If even more kids at the skatepark replace that [whatever 'core' action sport brand] logo with bold, sleek, ticks, who can blame them for the switch in loyalty? Nike is putting their marketing dollar in the right places, and in the video realm, doing a damned fine job of giving back to their audience.

and you have to find the freaking resize button in the corner

AMEN
I really am very annoyed at sites that resize my browser. Or even worse, the ones that open a new full-screen browser. It’s like you arrange your table a certain way because you like it but then some asshole comes and moves everything out of the way just to show you a massive hard-mounted A1-size poster (somewhat like Jon’s birthday present). It’s annoying as fuck.
Couldn’t agree more. Quote and pic lifted from Singaporean designer Adeline Chong’s blog.

RNDM
A random collection of images from all over the internet that I have saved in an archive on my hard-drive. Really addicted to images and the archive is big as a result of that, so maybe if I find the energy there are more of these to come?

Chris Martindale: Gainer at an Ottawan Quarry
Sorry for the lack of posts, just got back from the Macneil BMX trip. It was eleven days that will nestle nicely in the memory bank. You can see a collection of images from the tour over yonder, and have faith that more media will be released soon!
Here’s a few WMD things-

4 -3 = 1
Garrett Reynolds in France by Nike 6.0. Wait, I meant to say “the Nike 6.0 Team in France” but really, who are we kidding here. Definite watch… Reynolds deserves legend status.
As for the rest of the team – one was injured, another seems to have been doing more talking than riding (don’t blame him, he’s very succesful at it), and the third realizes he transforms into a mudskipper on street. Shame it didn’t work out for them on this video because they are all absolutely amazing riders.
