Pixeled Out

RNDM
A random collection of images from all over the internet that I have saved in an archive on my hard-drive. Really addicted to images and the archive is big as a result of that, so maybe if I find the energy there are more of these to come?
David Bellemere

David Bellemere’s photos are so brilliant they shouldn’t even be real. LINK (nsfw). Definitely worth a visit. Or ten.

Cole Barash / Zhang Jingna

It’s just been announced that 21 year-old snow photographer Cole Barash made PDN’s 2009 ‘Top 30 Emerging Photographers to Watch‘ list. Barash is a wonderkid with a camera and it’s great to see him get the recognition he definitely deserves. Have loved his black and white snow epics for a while now, and this new street shot featured in a photo annual earlier this year is on a different level (snooted flash!?). So good.

Curious if/when fashion photographer Zhang Jingna from Singapore will get included on the list? It’s only a matter of time. A girl who, at the age of 20, already sports a clients list including Mercedes Benz and Harper’s Bazaar surely deserves to be on there.
Photography Time Travel

Photo series of the same 20 year-old model photographed to look as if she was 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 years of age.
A Splash of Anger

Short yet informative article on the psychology of colour. A good read for anyone, especially people who have previously ignored this incredibly useful subject.

Blackbird

If you are looking for a (very) last-minute Christmas present, check out Blackbird’s online store for gift ideas from a friendly staff with impeccable taste. They also seem to be shipping on christmas day itself, which is a bonus.
Also, check out their excellent blog, and if you ever get the chance, visit their store in Seattle. It is a fantastic experience.
Le Playmate Anni, 1963-1977

(Be warned that this post allowed me to fulfill a long-time dream of writing porn puns).
Every Playmate of the Month from the beginning of 1963 to the end of 1977. Ready your sock! (Not Safe For Wife)
The photography in the series is fantastic, and compared to many pinups today, the girls are genuinely attractive, partly because they look, oh I don’t know, genuinely real?
I really do enjoy the variety in the pictures and subjects. For example one of the girls has a singular, ominous boob, another is so proud of having two that she has chosen to circle them out for you. Also, aside from the fact that we are from the same Scottish clan, the awesomeness of this girl also extends to her awesomenesses, and on a serious note, she has a very small pussy.
In 1967 Playboy land, this is what a sexy Asian was supposed to look like. Thankfully, Asian girls got more of a bit more of a fair chance ten years later. And in a time of financial turmoil, the agricultural sector has never looked more attractive.
Then there is this girl, the first ever documented exposure-victim of global warming. And this girl probably caused it by poking holes in the Ozone layer.
But as good as they all are, nothing can touch this fabulous picture sent from above. Oh my word.

Kate NSFW!!!!! Moss

Just went through the archives of theworldsbestever’s Kate Moss Thursdays. This must be the Kate Moss version of Top Gear Monday (every monday I ritually rush home from work to watch the newest Top Gear episode. It has relegated Tuesday to worst-day-of-the-week since I now look forward to Mondays so much).
ANYWAY, Kate Moss isn’t a person, she is a population. And since Kate Moss has been photographed by every fashion photographer worth their sea salt, she is a barometer to judge the skill and style of a photographer by, which makes for some interesting scrolling. One after another, distinct styles scream over a chorus of whispers.
For instance, there is the classic Rankin, and this particularly lovely portrait, charmed by Testino. What else can bear the Ryan Mcginley stamp of melancholic approval, and not even Moss could escape Bruce Weber’s amazing era-bending-time-machine camera. Here is a famous Terry Richardson, as subtle and graceful as a spiked dildo. Nan Goldin’s foretelling genius blessed a young Moss. Hedi Slimane, cool as fuck, as usual. Alas and Piggott recreated a Spartan warrior’s wet, wet, wet, wet, wet, dream and were also responsible for this photo in Interview magazine (not even death can stop Andy Warhol). Then there is this banger by Chuck Close whose brilliance also extends to putting some great (and in this case, apt) words together:
I think while photography is the easiest medium in which to be competent, it is probably the hardest one in which to develop an idiosyncratic personal vision. It’s the hardest medium in which to separate yourself from all those other people who are doing reasonably good stuff and to find a personal voice, your own vision, and to make something that is truly, memorably yours and not someone else’s. A recognized signature style of photography is an incredibly difficult thing to achieve. – Chuck Close

The Photography Link

When Yanda Tan of TheArtistAndHisModel describes a link as “fucking good,” you best sit up and listen.
Simply titled The Photography Link, the website acts as something of an archive and an up-to-date blog of great fashion photography and – for an absolutely welcome change – almost all the pictures are presented at the very least in a decent resolution. “Fucking good” – a warranted comment. This site is excellent, wish I knew about it sooner.

They also have twelve photos from Martin Schoeller’s incredible series on Female Bodybuilders.
