Girls with guns, girls on the beach, girls in nice living spaces, girl with foot in a tank in what appears to be a biology lab, and old interesting cars.

Damn good photography and their subject matter is on point. Verne Photography.

Lots of stuff happened this year. It’s been a great year. History will never forget this year for all the great stuff that happened.

To commemorate the wonderfulness that is this year, here’s the best things of this year (but not necessarily made this year. it’s just that I liked them this year, or right now, at this moment on the day before 2009)-

Know I’m 7-blog-years late on this, but it is too good not to post. Photographer Robbie Cooper films kids as they play video games and the resulting video is absolutely brilliant.

Ivan “(orky)Soul” Demidov, former top StarCraft and WarCraft 3 player and member of the same clan as the well-known (orky)Asmodey won over five million dollars earlier today. Finishing on second place in the yearly World Series of Poker, the three times WCG Russia representative, Ivan Demidov can be added to the list of successful StarCrafters turning in to successful poker players… like Dan “Rekrul” Schreiber, Guillaume “X’Ds~Grrrr” Patry and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospeiller.

Similarities can be drawn between Real Time Strategy games (RTS) and Poker, but five million dollars is a huge number nonetheless. To get some measure of how quickly these guys can micromanage, macromanage, read their opponents, and make crucial split-second decisions, check out this first person video of pro WarCraft 3 player Lyn battling against arch-rival Moon

Back in the days of Counterstrike beta, Singapore’s gaming scene was a pulsating entity. To avoid the prying gaze of governmental officers, we packed t-shirts into schoolbags and donned them before sneaking into one of many LAN shops as it was an offense to be seen in school uniform at a cybercafe. I then found photography and bikes and instead of terrorists, I shot photos.

Have recently reopened my eyes to the video gaming world and am at awe of the Gorilla it’s become. After obsessive reading and number-crunching, I have come to the undeniable conclusion that bananas are actually green, and that esports are going to pwn us all.

So hit that jump to find out why. Just a note: My ramblings are just casual observations and will sound like a big bag of captain obvious to a gamer.
